Bangladesh's ‘Bali’ to compete for the Oscars

Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury’s film ‘Bali’ (The Wrestler) has been selected to represent Bangladesh in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Oscars).

Robin Shams, media coordinator for the Oscars Bangladesh Committee, confirmed the selection, saying, “When the opportunity arose for Bangladeshi films to be nominated in the Best International Feature Film category, ‘Bali (The Wrestler)’ was submitted. After viewing the film on the night of October 1, Iqbal Hossain’s film was finalised as Bangladesh’s entry for the 97th Oscars.”

Produced by Piplu R Khan, ‘Bali (The Wrestler)’ features a star-studded cast including National Film Award winner Nasir Uddin Khan, along with AKM Itmam, Priyam Archie, Angel Noor, and Tahadil Ahmedin various roles.

The Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars, are the most prestigious film awards globally, presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. 

The 97th edition will take place on March 2 next year at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
