Sokaler Somoy Enters 10th Year with Grand Celebration
Overcoming various challenges through a successful journey, the national daily Sokaler Somoy has stepped into its 10th year of publication with a grand celebration. The anniversary was observed on Saturday at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in the capital through a two-phase colorful program. The first session of the event featured a discussion meeting presided over by the Editor and Publisher of Sokaler Somoy, Md. Nur Hakim. Former Justice Joynal Abedin attended the event as the chief guest, emphasizing the implementation of human rights and democracy. In his speech, he remarked that political rhetoric is not enough; one must prove their patriotism through actions, and he urged everyone to be more aware of their fundamental rights. His insights on global democratic leaders and his call for national unity were highly praised by the journalists present. Special guests included PSC Director Anisur Rahman, Advisory Editor Rezaul Haque, and Bangladesh Congress Chairman Adv. Kazi Rezaul Hossain, among other prominent figures from various sectors. Following the discussion, Editor Md. Nur Hakim inaugurated the second session by cutting a ceremonial cake and engaged in an exchange of views with journalists who traveled from rural areas. During the meeting, the Editor asserted his uncompromising stance on publishing the truth, stating that he is prepared to face any retaliation for authentic reporting while remaining strictly opposed to any form of misinformation. The day-long event concluded with the distribution of special honorary mementos to journalists for their contributions, followed by a vibrant cultural program.
