Building Construction Halted Amidst Terrorist Threats and Death Threats in Demra
An allegation of terrorist interference and death threats has surfaced regarding the construction of a building in the Muslim Nagar Zero Point area under Demra Police Station in the capital. The victim's family is reportedly suffering from extreme insecurity following the incident. According to the victim, Md. Jamal Hossain (46), he began the vertical expansion of his five-story building located at Muslim Nagar Zero Point, Tushardhara area, in November last year. After completing the initial phase, as he prepared to start the interior work, a local individual named Afzalur Rahman (48), alias Liton, along with his associates, allegedly arrived and illegally obstructed the construction. The victim claimed that the accused pressured him to stop the work and issued various threats, including a threat to his life, which forced the family to halt construction out of fear. Md. Jamal Hossain stated that he is building on his legally owned land, yet he fears a major mishap could occur at any time due to the ongoing intimidation. In response, he has filed a General Diary (GD) with the Demra Police Station and urged the administration to take necessary legal action. Local residents have also called for immediate intervention from law enforcement to prevent the situation from deteriorating further. Meanwhile, attempts to reach the investigating officer at Demra Police Station via phone for a comment on the matter were unsuccessful as the calls went unanswered.
