Bangladesh produced a disciplined bowling performance to bowl out Pakistan for 232 in their first innings, securing a 46-run lead at the end of the innings on second day of the second and final Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors were earlier bowled out for 232 in reply to Bangladesh’s 278, as the home side’s bowlers shared the wickets in a dominant display.
Pakistan’s innings was anchored by a top score of 68 from Babar Azam, but they failed to build substantial partnerships as Bangladesh struck at regular intervals to keep control of the match.
Bangladesh’s pace attack made an immediate impact on the second day. Taskin Ahmed removed both openers Abdullah Fazal (8) and Azan Awais (13) to provide the early breakthrough.
Captain Shan Masood (21) and Saud Shakeel (8) also fell cheaply as Mehidy Hasan Miraz tightened the screws on the Pakistan middle order with key strikes.
After lunch, Pakistan briefly fought back through Babar Azam, who reached 68 and looked dangerous before being dismissed by Nahid Rana in a crucial breakthrough.
From there, Pakistan’s innings quickly collapsed. Mohammad Rizwan (13), Salman Ali Agha (21) and Hasan Ali (18) were removed as Bangladesh’s bowling unit maintained relentless pressure.
The spin attack, led by Taijul Islam, wrapped up the tail to complete the dismissal.
Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam claimed three wickets each, while Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up two wickets apiece in a well-rounded bowling effort that gave Bangladesh a valuable first-innings advantage.
