8 more die of measles, related symptoms

Bangladesh recorded eight more deaths from measles and related symptoms in the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 432 since mid-March. 
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported these figures in its daily update on Wednesday (May 13).
According to the DGHS, the latest fatalities include three deaths in the Sylhet division and two in Mymensingh. The Dhaka and Chattogram divisions reported one death each from measles-related symptoms, while one confirmed measles death was recorded in Barishal. 
Since March 15, the country has seen a steady rise in infections, with total fatalities now reaching 432.
The report highlights a surge in cases, with 1,615 new patients identified in the last 24 hours. 
Among them, 126 were confirmed cases of measles, while 1,489 displayed symptoms of the disease. This brings the cumulative number of symptomatic cases to 53,056 and laboratory-confirmed cases to 7,150 over the past two months.
Hospitalization rates also remain high across the country. Since the outbreak escalated on March 15, a total of 38,054 patients have been admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms. 
Health officials noted that 33,832 individuals have recovered and been discharged so far, as medical facilities continue to manage the ongoing health crisis.
