Before and after the fall of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's government, nearly all of her family members and close relatives left Bangladesh, most of them are currently in India,  UK, US, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, and Dubai.

When Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on August 5, 2024,  her younger sister Sheikh Rehana was with her. Shiekh Rehana reportedly continues her visit to her sister Shiekh Hasina between Uk and India. Tariq Ahmed Siddique, the former Prime Minister's Defense Adviser, also with them that day.

According to the media reports, Sheikh Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, used to living in the US. Following the government's fall, there has been political speculation that he traveled to India to meet his mother. Her daughter, Saima Wazed (Putul), who had been serving as the Regional Director for the World Health Organization's South-East Asia Region in New Delhi, is reportedly currently staying between Delhi and Dubai.

Sheikh Rehana's son, Radwan Mujib Siddiq (Bobby), was in Thailand when the government fall. His wife is a Finnish citizen. Rehana's other daughter, Tulip Siddiq, is a British citizen and a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom. Another daughter, Azmina Siddiq Rupanthi, also lives in the UK.

According to Awami League sources, many of Sheikh Hasina's relatives entered India through the Satkhira, Sylhet, and Mymensingh border areas. The sources alleged that they were able to leave the country safely due to political influence, administrative connections, and the payment of large sums of money. However, party leaders also said that many Awami League leaders and activists who were unable to leave the country have become resentful over the situation.

Beyond the family, a large number of Sheikh Hasina's close relatives have also left the country. Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, a member of the Awami League Presidium, is currently in Kolkata. His son, Sheikh Fazle Naeem, is also in Kolkata, while another son, Sheikh Fazle Fahim, had left the country before the government's fall.

Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash traveled to Canada via India after the government's fall and later returned to India. Sheikh Fazlur Rahman Maruf is currently in Singapore.

Sheikh Hasina's cousin, Abul Hasanat Abdullah, is reported to have gone to India before the government's Fall. His son, Ashik Abdullah, also traveled with him to India. Another son, Sadiq Abdullah, is believed to have gone to the United States via India. Media reports, citing party sources, also claim that Abul Khayer Abdullah moved to India after the government's fall.

Sheikh Hasina's cousins, Sheikh Helal Uddin and Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, are also reportedly staying in India. Various reports have stated that they are living in a residential complex in the New Town area of Kolkata.

Sheikh Helal's son, Sheikh Tanmoy, is also in India. Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel's wife, Shahana Yasmin Shampa, is with him. However, the whereabouts of Sheikh Helal's other brother, Sheikh Sohel, remain unknown.
Meanwhile, among Sheikh Hasina's relatives, only Moin Uddin Abdullah, the son of Abul Hasanat Abdullah, was arrested in Dhaka in October 2024. He was involved in business and was not widely known in politics.
