SUST student goes missing while bathing in Sylhet’s Bichhanakandi

A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has gone missing while bathing at Bichanakandi tourist spot in Sylhet. 
The missing student, Shanto Bonik, is an undergraduate of 2023-24 academic session at Petroleum and Mining Engineering department.
The incident occurred at around 4:00 PM on Friday along the India-Bangladesh border area, confirmed Md. Faruk, the Camp In-Charge of Bichanakandi Tourist Police.
According to police sources, three students had gone down into the water to bathe. While two of them managed to swim back safely, Shanto went missing under the water. 
Locals immediately used boats to conduct a search, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
During the initial search phase Camp In-Charge Md. Faruk said "We were informed about the incident at around 4:50 PM. A diving team has already departed from Sylhet to join the rescue operation." 
He noted that the exact spot is a water body adjacent to the No Man's Land along the border.
A specialized diving team is scheduled to launch a formal rescue operation to locate the missing university student as soon as they reach the site, added the official.
