7 more children die as measles death toll climbs to 488

Seven more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, raising the overall death toll to 488, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deaths were recorded between 8:00 AM on Wednesday and 8:00 AM on Thursday. Among the victims, four children were confirmed to have measles through laboratory testing, while the remaining three died with suspected measles symptoms.
During the same period, 1,423 patients showing measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 208 cases were later confirmed as measles.
DGHS data shows that, so far this year, 83 children have died from confirmed measles infections, while another 405 children died after exhibiting symptoms consistent with the disease.
Between March 15 and May 21, a total of 8,275 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory tests, according to official figures.
The latest health bulletin also revealed that 59,279 suspected measles cases have been identified across the country. Among those patients, 42,336 have already recovered and been discharged after treatment.
