Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister, is scheduled for travelling to Singapore on June 20, 2026, to negotiate the costs associated with some listed companies in Singapore those supplying fuel-oil to Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is set to purchase 1.6 million tonnes of fuel oil from 10 companies under government-to-government (G2G) agreements, with the total value estimated at around $1.65 billion, or nearly Tk200 billion, based on current international market prices.

The delegation will include BPC Chairman Md Rezanur Rahman, a joint secretary from the Energy Division and several BPC commercial officials, confirms the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.

This is the first time an energy minister is personally leading such negotiations abroad, a task traditionally handled by officials at secretary level.
