The Inter-Department Football Competition (Male-Female) 2026-27 began at Rajshahi University (RU) today.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam inaugurated the competition at the university playground at 10am.

Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Abdul Alim and Professor Mamunur Rashid, Treasurer Professor Matiar Rahman and other university officials, teachers and hall provosts attended the inaugural ceremony.

The programme was chaired by Professor Md. Golam Mortuza, president of the Inter-Department Games Sub-Committee and dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences. Director of the Physical Education Department Roksana Begum delivered the welcome speech.

After the inauguration, the vice-chancellor exchanged greetings with players from the participating teams.

On the opening day, the Arabic Department defeated the Department of Islamic History and Culture 1-0, while the Psychology Department beat the Department of Islamic Studies in a tiebreaker.

A total of 60 departments are competing in the men's tournament and 20 departments in the women's tournament.
