Mixed Trend Marks Early Trading on DSE, CSE on Final Session of the Week
Capital markets in Bangladesh witnessed a mixed trend in early trading on Thursday (September 17), the final trading session of the week, across the primary bourses: the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).
Data from both stock exchanges indicated fluctuating index movements during the initial half-hour of operations.
By 10:30 AM—thirty minutes into the session—the DSE benchmark index, DSEX, edged down by 1 point from the previous close to stand at 5,492 points. The Shariah-compliant DSES index marginally gained 1 point, while the blue-chip DS30 index fell by 3 points to 2,089 points.
Total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 81.09 crore during the opening half-hour. Among traded issues, share prices of 146 companies advanced, 133 declined, and 85 remained unchanged.

During the first 5 minutes of trading, the broad DSEX index initially lost 5 points, extending its decline by another 3 points by 10:10 AM. Selling pressure intensified by 10:20 AM, sending the index down by 12 points to 5,481 points before stabilizing slightly toward the half-hour mark.
Concurrently, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) registered a positive bias. By 10:30 AM, the CSE broad index, CASPI, gained 1 point to settle at 14,675 points, maintaining an upward trajectory in early trading.
Turnover on the port-city bourse reached Tk 3.80 crore by 10:30 AM. Among the traded companies, 13 recorded price advances, 9 declined, and 3 remained unchanged.
