Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team made a flying start to their Top End T20 campaign, whacking Nepal past by 9 wickets at Marrara Stadium in Darwin today.

Off-spinner Mohammad Rubel starred with the ball, taking 4-18 as Bangladesh restricted Nepal A to 99-9 in 20 overs.

Bangladesh HP gunned down the target in just 10.2 overs to seal a comprehensive victory with Jisan Alam hitting an unbeaten half-century.

Bangladesh captain Irfan Shukkur won the toss and opted to field, a decision that paid off immediately as Nepal lost five wickets for just 13 runs.

Kushal Bhurtel offered some resistance, scoring 46, while Sahab Alam made 11 and Bipin Khatri remained unbeaten on 11. 

The rest of Nepal's batters failed to reach double figures.

Rubel was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, claiming four wickets in his four-over spell.

Samiun Basir, Ripon Mondol and Rohanat Doula took one wicket each.

Chasing 100, Bangladesh raced to 32 without loss after two overs. Habibur Rahman Sohan was dismissed in the third over, but his departure did little to slow the chase.

Jisan Alam then took charge, launching an aggressive assault alongside Ariful Islam.

He brought up his half-century from just 29 balls as Bangladesh reached the target in only 10.2 overs.

Jisan remained unbeaten on 52, while Ariful contributed an unbeaten 34 off 27 balls.

The victory marked Bangladesh HP's third appearance in the Top End T20 tournament in Australia. Bangladesh reached the final in one of their previous two campaigns but failed to win the title.

Bangladesh HP will face Hobart Hurricanes Academy in their next match at Marrara Stadium on Sunday.
