The Summit LNG Terminal resumed gas supply to the national grid on Friday, bringing relief to the nation's severe energy deficit.

Summit LNG Terminal has once again started supplying gas to the national grid. Gas supply from the terminal began at 6:10 PM on Friday (August 14).

According to Energy Division sources, approximately 110 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of gas is initially being supplied to the national grid. The supply volume will increase gradually.

Gas supply from the Summit LNG Terminal is expected to reach full capacity by 2:00 AM on Saturday (August 15). Up to 550 million cubic feet of gas per day can potentially be supplied.

Earlier, rough sea conditions created problems in supplying gas from the cargo ship positioned at the Summit LNG terminal. Due to the situation, the cargo vessel was shifted away, and gas supply from the Summit terminal to the national grid was suspended. This intensified the ongoing gas crisis across the country.

The suspension of Summit's supply widened the gas deficit in the national grid. The impact affected various sectors, including power generation, industrial factories, and CNG stations. Additionally, residential consumers in the capital and other regions suffered cooking disruptions due to low gas pressure.

With the resumption of supply from the Summit LNG Terminal, gas supply to the national grid is expected to increase slightly. If the supply is incrementally raised to 550 million cubic feet, it is believed it will play a vital role in addressing the gas crisis.
