Distribution of Medical Supplies in Gaibandha to Aid Healthcare for Impoverished People
Medicines have been distributed to support the medical care of poor and underprivileged individuals in Saghata and Fulchhari upazilas of Gaibandha. Under this initiative, various medicines worth 1.5 million BDT will be distributed in phases, with supplies worth 672,000 BDT handed over as part of the initial phase. On Saturday (September 5), the medicines were officially presented to the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers of Saghata and Fulchhari during an event held at the SKS Resource Centre in Bharatkhali. Presided over by Rasel Ahmed Liton, Chief Executive of SKS Foundation, the event featured Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Md. Abdul Wares, Member of Parliament for the Gaibandha-5 (Saghata-Fulchhari) constituency, as the chief guest. Md. Ashraful Kabir, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Saghata, addressed the gathering as a special guest. Attendees also included Dr. Md. Iltutmish Akand Pintu, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer of Saghata; Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Residential Medical Officer of Fulchhari Upazila Health Complex; Mahbub Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Saghata Police Station; Maulana Ibrahim Hossain, Ameer of Saghata Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami; and Principal Maulana Sirajul Islam Akand, Ameer of Fulchhari Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, along with other relevant officials. Organizers stated that this initiative, supported by SKS Foundation, will reduce medical expenses and broaden access to essential medicines for the poor and disadvantaged communities across Saghata and Fulchhari upazilas, with additional medicine supplies to be distributed in subsequent phases. The event was moderated by Md. Ashraful Alam, Coordinator of the Public Relations and Communication Department at SKS Foundation.
