S. M. Shahinuzzaman Shaheen, a central figure in business and politics and a member of the Jamalpur District Awami League, has been arrested by police from the capital's Uttara area. He was taken into custody on Sunday evening (September 13) from an office located in Uttara Sector 14 by a team from the Uttara West Police Station.

Shaheenuzzaman Shaheen is the Managing Director and CEO of Rosin Group (Rosin Exports Ltd.). During the controversial 12th national parliamentary election, he contested as an independent candidate (dummy candidate) from the Jamalpur-2 (Islampur) constituency. According to intelligence and law enforcement sources, besides his political identity, he has faced various allegations, including human trafficking to Russia and involvement in suppressing anti-discrimination student movements.

Investigators noted that following the political changeover on August 5, 2024, Shaheen remained in the country and had been operating covertly to support and finance fugitive party activists hiding in Dhaka, even allegedly supplying participants for recent political processions. Furthermore, police records show he is a chargesheeted accused in an abduction case filed at the Airport Police Station.

Confirming the arrest, Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Khalid Mansur stated that Shahinuzzaman Shaheen is currently being interrogated regarding multiple charges and his recent activities, and further legal procedures are underway.
