Two Killed, Four Injured in Head-On Collision Between Truck and CNG in Trishal
্Two people, including a driver, were killed and four others critically injured in a head-on collision between a sand-laden dump truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh.
The accident occurred on Monday (September 14) afternoon along the Kalir Bazar-Gafargaon road near the Tirakhi area under Kanihari union in Trishal. The deceased auto-rickshaw driver has been identified as Md. Jasim Uddin (38), son of Mofiz Uddin from Sutiakhali village in Mymensingh Sadar upazila, while the identity of the deceased female passenger could not be confirmed immediately.
According to police and local sources, the auto-rickshaw was heading towards Mymensingh from Gafargaon carrying passengers when it collided head-on with a speeding, sand-laden dump truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact completely mangled the auto-rickshaw, killing driver Jasim on the spot. Upon receiving the news, Fire Service personnel and Trishal police rushed to the scene and, with the help of locals, rescued five injured passengers and sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), where an injured woman later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
Confirming the incident, Trishal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Ahmed stated that both accident-involved vehicles have been recovered, and further legal procedures are currently underway.
