A violent clash broke out between residents of two neighborhoods in Bera, Pabna, centering on a football match, resulting in over 50 injuries from both sides. During the clash, at least 15 shops and houses were vandalized, looted, and torched. The incident took place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday (October 11, 2026) in the Nazim Bazar area under Bera Pourashava.

According to local sources, a ward-based football tournament was underway at the Bera Bibi Pilot Model High School ground. Sunday's match between Ward No. 2 and Ward No. 9 ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Tensions flared when officials attempted to decide the outcome via a penalty shootout, leading residents of Sardarpara (Ward 2) and Bongram (Ward 9) to engage in a fierce chase and counter-chase. Several shops and at least 15 houses were attacked, vandalized, and set on fire. Over 50 injured people received treatment at the Bera Upazila Health Complex and other medical facilities.

Upon receiving the news, Bera Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Rulant Chakma rushed to the spot. Police forces from Bera Model Police Station, along with personnel from neighboring Santhia and Sujanagar police stations, Pabna Police Lines, and CRB members, brought the situation under control by firing several tear gas shells and blank shots. No arrests have been reported yet. Bera Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noyon Kumar Sarkar and UNO Rulant Chakma confirmed that the situation is currently under control, with additional law enforcement personnel deployed to prevent further escalation.
