DHAKA — Bangladesh will place a fresh interim proposal on Teesta water sharing when the Joint Rivers Commission meets in New Delhi next week, officials confirmed. The draft seeks a guaranteed minimum lean-season flow at Dalia point, backed by joint real-time monitoring — a first for any shared river.

Northern farmers, who have watched the Teesta shrink to a ribbon of sand each March, cautiously welcomed the move. 'We don't need charity water. We need our river's fair share, measured openly where all can see,' said farmer leader Mosharraf Hossain of Lalmonirhat.
