A young motorcyclist was killed in a tragic road accident on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur on Thursday afternoon (September 17).
The deceased was identified as Samiul Al Arafat (18), son of Abdus Salam Mia from the Court Para area of Tangail Sadar (Ward No. 13).
According to locals and police sources, Samiul was traveling from Tangail toward Dhaka on his motorcycle. As he reached the Asuka Pump area in Uttar Hizlatali under Sutrapur union of Kaliakair upazila, the motorcycle lost control and skidded onto the highway. Moments later, a speeding truck coming from behind ran over him and fled the scene. Samiul was crushed beneath the wheels of the truck and died on the spot.
Upon receiving information from locals, personnel from the Naojour-Salna Highway Police promptly rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and brought it into highway police custody. Officer-in-Charge Zafar Ali of the Naojour-Salna Highway Police Station confirmed the casualty resulting from the highway motorcycle accident.
