Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) police arrested four individuals in the Hemayetpur area of Savar for allegedly operating investment activities under the guise of cryptocurrency and forex trading. Four Android mobile phones used for crypto transactions were recovered from their possession.
According to a press release issued by DB Inspector Saidul Islam, the raid was conducted on Monday night (October 19) on the second floor of 'Londoners Restaurant' at the Hemayetpur bus stand area. The arrestees are Md. Jahangir Alam, Md. Rezaul Kabir, Obaidur Rahman, and Md. Sujan. Police found evidence of USDT cryptocurrency transactions via the Binance app, alongside financial transfers through bKash and Nagad.
A case has been filed against them under the Cyber Security Act, and a 7-day remand application has been submitted to the court.
