In a major anti-narcotics and law enforcement operation, police arrested five individuals—including a notorious regional Yaba dealer—recovering 155 Yaba tablets, 550 grams of cannabis, and several domestic weapons during a targeted raid in Faridpur Upazila, Pabna.
Addressing a press conference at the Faridpur Police Station compound on Friday morning (October 16, 2026), Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monjurul Hasan Masud detailed the results of the Thursday evening (October 15) intelligence-led raid in Dhanuaghata village under Hadal Union.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Nayan Pramanik (40), Mamun Hossain (30), Jabbar Ali (21), Kawsar Ali (19)—all residents of Faridpur Upazila—and Sakib Uddin (19) from neighboring Chatmohar Upazila. During a search of Nayan Pramanik’s homestead, officers seized 55 Yaba pills, 400 grams of cannabis, two iron meat cleavers (chapatis), and one handleless iron weapon. OC Masud designated Nayan as a major local Yaba distributor. Searches of the remaining four suspects yielded 100 additional Yaba pills and 150 grams of cannabis. According to police estimates, the total market value of the seized contraband stands at Tk 68,500 (Tk 46,500 for Yaba and Tk 22,000 for cannabis). Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Narcotics Control Act and Arms Act, and all five suspects are being forwarded to Pabna District Jail.
