Detectives from the Naogaon District Detective Branch (DB) arrested three individuals along with two kilograms of cannabis during an anti-narcotics drive in Mahadevpur Upazila, Naogaon. The raid was conducted on Saturday (October 10, 2026) under the direct instructions of Naogaon Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tarikul Islam.

According to DB Police sources, acting on a tip-off regarding an ongoing illegal drug transaction, a DB team conducted a raid on the paved road leading from Mataji to Fatehpur in Bhabaninagar village under Mahadevpur Police Station. Upon reaching the scene, officers detained Abul Kalam Azad (42) and recovered two kilograms of cannabis concealed in a bag in his possession.

During interrogation, Abul Kalam Azad, son of Gojir Uddin from Kalnakata Paschimpara in Mahadevpur, revealed that he had purchased the contraband from Anwar Hossain (43) of Kaigram in Dhamoirhat Upazila and was intending to sell it with the assistance of Kamal Hossain (55) of Kulfatpur village. Based on information provided by Azad and Kamal, DB personnel subsequently conducted a follow-up drive in the Mataji Hat area and arrested Anwar Hossain. A case under the Narcotics Control Act has been registered at Mahadevpur Police Station against all three suspects.
