Following the devastating fire at the 'Tuptup Restaurant and Resort' in Inani, Ukhiya, a poignant video capturing a distraught woman repeatedly pleading, "Bring back my Saif," has gone viral on social media. The incident highlights the intense emotional toll and human tragedy behind the disaster that claimed ten lives and injured six others on Saturday morning (October 17, 2026).

It was revealed that the woman had arrived in Cox's Bazar with her family to spend the Durga Puja holiday. What was meant to be a vacation turned into a catastrophe when the wooden resort caught fire around 7:30 AM. According to sources, the woman is the sister of a practicing journalist, though the exact relation of "Saif" to her could not be immediately confirmed. At the time of the blaze, 17 tourists were staying at the establishment.

Fire Service Senior Official Dolan Acharya and Ukhiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Panna Akhtar confirmed that ten bodies were recovered from the scene, all identified as tourists. Three firefighting units alongside the local administration, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and police brought the fire under control by 10:00 AM. Meanwhile, Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman confirmed that resort authorities fled the scene immediately after the incident.
