In a major anti-narcotics drive, Dinajpur Police arrested a notorious drug peddler couple and seized 20,200 pieces of illicit Tapentadol tablets on Saturday evening (October 17, 2026). The arrestees have been identified as Sohel Rana and his wife Lucky, residents of the Sipahipara Dhakaiya Pati Linepar area near Fulbari Bus Stand in Dinajpur town.
The operation was conducted across two locations in the town under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Abdul Halim, following strategic directions from the Dinajpur Superintendent of Police. Alongside the contraband narcotics, police seized a motorcycle used for transporting drugs, two bags, BDT 40,000 in cash earned from drug sales, and five mobile phones. A regular case under the Narcotics Control Act has been registered, and the arrestees have been forwarded to court for remand/jail custody.
Briefing reporters after the raid, Additional SP Abdul Halim reaffirmed the police department's zero-tolerance policy against drugs, emphasizing that Dinajpur will no longer offer a "comfort zone" for narcotics dealers. He noted that local mosque committees, civil society members, and community leaders are being mobilized to build a social movement against drug abuse across all neighborhoods in the district.
