Mymensingh Correspondent: A Mymensingh court has sentenced three sibling brothers to death and ten others to life imprisonment in the Shafikul Islam Sabir murder case stemming from a land dispute in Nandail, Mymensingh. On Wednesday afternoon, October 7, 2026, Judge Shamsuzzaman Ahmed of Mymensingh Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-1 pronounced the verdict in the presence of the accused.

The three brothers condemned to death are Mozammel Haque Swapan, Md. Apon Mia, and Ripon Mia alias Gibu (fugitive) from Charvelamari village, sons of Abu Bakar Siddique.

The ten life-confinement convicts—each fined 50,000 taka with an additional year of rigorous imprisonment in default—include Abu Bakar Siddique, Kanchan Mia, Rubel, Parvez, Mofazzal Hossain, Kashid, Al-Amin, Suman Mia, Nayan Mia, and Asadul. Twelve of the thirteen accused were present during the verdict.

According to the case statement, following long-standing land disputes, Shafikul Islam Sabir was brutally hacked to death with sharp weapons on the evening of February 25, 2015, at the Charvelamari intersection river-ghat east bank. A murder case was filed the next day at Nandail Police Station.

Senior lawyer Soumendra Kishore Chowdhury represented the state and expressed satisfaction that justice was served following the analysis of 16 witness testimonies and evidence.
