
A joint mobile court conducted raids against fake doctors, quacks, and unauthorized private health institutions in Chakaria upazila, Cox's Bazar. On Sunday afternoon (October 4, 2026), the mobile court operated in the Malumghat and Chiringa municipal areas under the coordination of the Chakaria upazila administration and the upazila health department.
The drive was led by Chakaria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Learned Executive Magistrate Shafiul Alam. During the operation, five individuals and establishments were fined a total of BDT 1.85 lakh for offenses including using fake medical titles, prescribing unauthorized medicines, and performing ultrasonography without a license.
According to mobile court sources, Md. Ali Akbar Khan was fined BDT 1 lakh under the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) Act, 2010, at Malumghat Ma-Moni Hospital for using fake doctor titles, lacking BMDC registration, and administering anesthesia in various private hospitals without a diploma or degree.
In the Chakaria Government Hospital area, a midwife named Husne Ara was fined BDT 60,000 under the BMDC Act for practicing midwifery without an institutional degree and prescribing unauthorized medicines on a prescription pad.
Riduanul Kabir Nishan, holding a DMF certificate, was fined BDT 10,000 under the BMDC Act on Government Hospital Road for writing unauthorized medicines on a medical prescription pad.
Sonali Traders Pharmacy was fined BDT 10,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, for illegally operating medical activities by keeping an ultrasound machine without authorization from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Safe Medicine Corner Pharmacy was fined BDT 5,000 under the same Consumer Rights Protection Act for using an unauthorized ultrasound machine.
During the operation, Dr. Mamun-or-Rashid Chowdhury, Junior Consultant (Anesthesiology); Dr. Miskat Uddin Ahmad, Residential Medical Officer (RMO); and Upazila Sanitary Inspector Ariful Islam of the Chakaria Upazila Health Complex were present.
Additionally, a proficient team of Chakaria police station and armed Ansar forces from the Upazila Executive Officer's office provided overall security and law enforcement assistance during the drive.
Following the operation, Learned Executive Magistrate Shafiul Alam stated that such sudden drives against fake doctors and illegal private health institutions will continue in Chakaria to protect public interest and ensure proper healthcare for ordinary citizens.
