A horrifying incident of mob justice and physical assault has surfaced in Faridpur, where an expatriate housewife was reportedly confined, tortured, had her hair forcefully chopped off, and was bound to a tree over alleged extramarital relations. Video footage capturing the brutal assault was recorded on a mobile phone and circulated widely on social media platforms, sparking severe outrage and widespread condemnation across the district.

The incident occurred in Beparidangi village under Krishnapur Union in Sadarpur Upazila, Faridpur. The victim has been identified as Rikta Begum (28), wife of Saudi Arabia expatriate Rajib Bepari from the same village. According to local sources, Rikta returned from her paternal home on Saturday (October 10). Late that night, family members allegedly caught a young man inside her room and detained both of them with the help of locals. On Sunday afternoon, two local youths—identified as Suman Hossain (26) and Joy Hossain (28)—forcibly cut off the woman's hair, physically assaulted both individuals while tying them to a tree in the dark, and eventually sent her back to her father's home while releasing the youth.

The viral video clips depict a youth in a black t-shirt pinning the woman down on a chair while another in a plaid t-shirt aggressively cuts her hair with a pair of sharp scissors, slapping her repeatedly despite her desperate pleas. Sadarpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdullah Al Mamun Shah stated that police teams were deployed immediately after the video came to their notice. He emphasized that no one has the right to take the law into their own hands and confirmed that an active police drive is underway to arrest all suspects and accomplices involved in the assault and video distribution.
