A motivation meeting was held in Munshiganj on Sunday (October 18, 2026) at the District Commissioner's conference room to promote the optimal use of solar energy and encourage necessary initiatives for installing rooftop solar panels on government buildings.
Presided over by Munshiganj District Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmohal Ashrafy, the meeting was informed that the DC office currently generates approximately 80 kilowatt-hours of electricity per hour through its solar system, which covers its own internal needs while supplying surplus power to the national grid.
The District Commissioner stated that installing rooftop solar panels in every government office is crucial for increasing renewable energy usage, saving electricity, and achieving the government's policy goals. She emphasized that this initiative will reduce dependence on conventional electricity, cut energy costs, and protect the environment, while urging officials to make their respective offices energy-efficient and self-reliant. The meeting was attended by District Council Administrator A.K.M. Iradat Hossain (Manu), Civil Surgeon Dr. Sajada Begum, Local Government Deputy Director Mousumi Mahbub, Additional District Commissioner (General) Md. Mahmudur Rahman Khondokar, and upazila executive officers participating via Zoom conference.
