Residents of Mostafapur in Parbatipur Upazila of Dinajpur formed a human chain and submitted a memorandum demanding that the Mostafapur Union Parishad building be constructed at its original location.

Organized by local citizens, the human chain was held on Thursday afternoon in front of the Parbatipur Upazila Parishad premises.

Speakers at the demonstration included Union Krishak Dal President Mamtaz Ali Mondal, Ward No. 1 Member Azhar Ali Nayan, BNP leader Abu Sayeed Mondal, and Hafez Azizur Rahman Suman.

The speakers noted that the Mostafapur Union Parishad building was originally established in 1964 at Mostafapur Bazar, and all official Union Parishad administrative activities have been conducted from that location ever since. Recent news that the authority plans to relocate and construct the new Union Parishad building elsewhere sparked widespread anger among local residents.

Through the human chain, demonstrators urged the authorities to halt relocation plans and build the new complex at the original site, warning of tougher agitation programs if their demand is ignored. Following the protest, a formal memorandum was submitted to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).

Acknowledging the submission, Parbatipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Arafat Aman Aziz stated that necessary action would be taken following directions from higher authorities.
