
Dengue infections are rising at an alarming rate in Feni, with total cases reaching 771 over the first nine months of 2026—more than four times the total of 201 cases reported last year. September alone accounted for 495 of these infections. According to the Civil Surgeon's office, 28 new patients were hospitalized in the 24 hours leading up to Friday, October 2, bringing total active hospitalizations to 42 across the district. Feni Sadar remains the most vulnerable hotspot with 564 cases (about 80% of the total), followed by Daganbhuiyan, Sonagazi, Chagalnaiya, Parshuram, and Phulgazi.
Feni Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Arifuzzaman described the situation as critical, noting that 6,000 test kits are currently stocked and urging citizens to maintain strict awareness and clear stagnant water around homes. Feni General Hospital Resident Medical Officer Dr. Md. Rokon-Ud-Doula stated that the hospital is operating at full capacity and handling the crisis with limited staff, while local authorities call for coordinated mosquito eradication and community vigilance.
