A preparatory meeting was held to ensure a peaceful, safe, and festive celebration of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja across all puja mandaps in Kaliakair, Gazipur. The meeting focused on reinforcing security, maintaining normal law and order, and preserving communal harmony across the upazila's 149 puja mandaps.
The meeting took place on Monday afternoon (October 12, 2026) at the upazila hall room under the initiative of the upazila administration. Chaired by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamsun Nahar Shila, the session featured speeches from Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Sadia Tasnim Munmun, Kaliakair Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahidul Islam, Kaliakair Pourashava Executive Officer Jahidul Islam Talukdar, Kaliakair Palli Bidyut DGM Shaharul Islam, Upazila BADC Officer Rafiqul Islam, Pourashava BNP former general secretary Riaz Uddin, Mouchak Union Parishad acting chairman Ariful Islam Arif, Kaliakair Press Club general secretary Selim Hossain Sunny, Nikhil Chandra Das, Debdulal, and Palash Sarkar, alongside various department officials, public representatives, and local stakeholders.
Discussions emphasized ensuring comprehensive security at the mandaps, smooth movement for devotees, special security for women and children, installing and maintaining functional CCTV cameras, adequate lighting, backup power systems, appointing volunteers, strengthening fire safety measures, and taking prompt action during emergencies. Presiding over the meeting, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shamsun Nahar Shila urged officials, public representatives, organizers, and local residents to work together in a coordinated manner to ensure a secure and joyous celebration.
