The crucial Tajpur-Balaganj road connecting Sylhet's Osmaninagar and Balaganj upazilas has fallen into a severe state of disrepair due to a prolonged lack of maintenance and reconstruction. Large potholes, missing bitumen, and waterlogging during rains have turned the route into a hazardous deathtrap for thousands of daily commuters, particularly motorcyclists, CNG auto-rickshaw drivers, and other small vehicle operators. Locals attribute the persistent delays in repair work to a lack of coordination and passing of responsibilities between authorities of the two border upazilas. Although temporary fixes like brick chips and soil are occasionally dumped into the craters, they wash away quickly, prompting frustrated residents, students, traders, and patients to demand immediate, sustainable reconstruction before worsening road conditions trigger major accidents.
