Truck driver Lutfor Rahman (50) has been arrested by the SRB (Special Response Battalion) units from Jamalpur-14 and Pabna-12 in connection with a collision between a truck and an 'easy-bike' (electric three-wheeler) in Roumari Upazila, Kurigram. The arrest was made during a joint operation in Sathia Upazila, Pabna district, around 9:00 PM on Saturday. The arrested individual, Lutfor Rahman, is a permanent resident of Sathia Upazila in Pabna district.

On Saturday, September 17, at approximately 3:00 PM, a cargo truck struck an easy-bike carrying passengers near Shiberdangi in Roumari Upazila, along the Dhaka-Roumari highway. The impact left the easy-bike completely mangled. Among those killed were Lipi (26), her young son Rishad (12), her daughter Tuba (7), and her sister Sharifa (42)—all from the same family. Another individual, Nazrul Islam from Rajibpur Upazila, also lost his life. Sharifa’s daughter, Brishti (25), sustained serious injuries.

Following the incident, both the truck driver and the easy-bike driver managed to flee the scene. That same night, the victims' family filed a written complaint at the Roumari Police Station against both drivers. In addition to the police investigation, the SRB’s Jamalpur-14 unit also initiated a parallel inquiry into the incident.

Kawsar Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Roumari Police Station, confirmed the arrest of the truck driver. He stated, "Police have been dispatched to Pabna to bring back the arrested suspect, Lutfor Rahman."
