Committees for seven unions of Ishwardi upazila and nine wards of the pourashava under Pabna district BNP were officially announced on Monday afternoon (October 12, 2026) at the Ishwardi Press Club auditorium.

Presided over by Ishwardi Upazila BNP Convener Jahangir Alam and conducted by Pourashava BNP Member Secretary and former panel mayor Anwar Hossain Joni, the announcement event highlighted that the new committees have been formed by integrating leaders and activists who endured attacks, torture, lawsuits, and imprisonment during the 17-year rule of the Awami League government under Sheikh Hasina. Speakers noted that the committees were formed under the guidance of Zakaria Pintu, former joint secretary of Pabna District BNP and former general secretary of Ishwardi Pourashava BNP.

The committees were formally declared by Ishwardi Upazila BNP Convener Jahangir Alam and Pourashava BNP Convener Islam Hossain Jewel, with speeches also delivered by Upazila BNP Member Secretary Shahabuddin Sentu Sardar. Leaders emphasized that evaluating grassroots activists who remained active on the streets during prolonged struggles aims to further galvanize organizational activities at the local level. BNP and associate organization leaders and workers were present during the announcement.
