Amid tight security by the army, SRB, and police, the uranium fuel for the first unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has finally reached the project site. Transported by three lorries under heavy military escort, the convoy departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport—where the shipment had landed on Friday night—and arrived at the Rooppur project via Dashuria Mor in Ishwardi around 12:20 PM on Saturday. Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam confirmed the successful delivery, noting that subsequent shipments for the first and second units are expected in the coming months. Meanwhile, Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Dr. Zahedul Hasan announced that the high-pressure test on the press-operated relief valves (PORV) at 16 megapascals has been successfully completed, bringing the plant closer to starting fission reaction and targeting a 300 MW power supply to the national grid between November and December. Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asadur Rahman Asad confirmed that the entire transit was completed safely under strict multi-agency security.
