Warrant-accused Skand Sheikh (35)—who had escaped with handcuffs after an attack on police—along with his brother Noyon Sheikh, has been arrested by RAB-6 in Naragati, Kalia upazila, Narail.
Major Fazle Rabbi Prince, Company Commander of RAB-6, CPC-3, Jashore camp, confirmed the matter on Monday morning (October 5).
The arrested individuals, Skand Sheikh and Noyon Sheikh, are the sons of Babul Sheikh from Putimari village under Khashial union of Naragati police station.
RAB stated that using information technology with the assistance of the Bhatiapara camp, RAB-6 arrested Skand Sheikh from the Kashiani police station area of Gopalganj around 3:00 AM on Sunday (October 4) night. His brother Noyon Sheikh was also arrested at the same time. Later, they were handed over to Naragati Police Station.
According to police sources, around 7:00 PM last Tuesday (September 22), SI Murad Hossain and SI Hasan of Naragati Police Station arrested Skand from the Putimari Bazar area of the upazila. Upon receiving the news, Skand's relatives and associates attacked the police and snatched him away along with the handcuffs. The attackers beat SI Murad with sticks on his hand, back, and neck. Injured SI Murad Hossain received treatment at Kalia Upazila Health Complex. Police noted that accused Skand Sheikh has one arms case and nine drug-related cases against him. Following the incident, police filed a case against 23 people. The next day, Wednesday (September 23) morning, police recovered the discarded handcuffs from in front of the Putimari Eidgah gate.
Regarding the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hossain Ali of Naragati Police Station said that RAB-6 arrested Skand Sheikh and his brother Noyon Sheikh and handed them over to the police station. They will be sent to court.
