Woman and Woodworker Killed in Separate Incidents in Panchagarh
Police officers and local residents gathered near the Mareya-Panchagarh road where a woman lost her life in a fatal truck accident in Boda upazila.

Two individuals, including a woman, lost their lives in two separate incidents in Panchagarh district on Friday (October 23). A woman was crushed under the wheels of a truck in Boda upazila, while a woodworker was electrocuted in Panchagarh Sadar upazila during the afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Julekha Begum (55), wife of Abdur Kuddus from Mahanpara in Boda Sadar Union, and Jahangir Alam (40), son of Julhas Miah from the Charmile Bodapara area of Panchagarh Sadar upazila.

According to police and local sources, Julekha Begum was traveling to the Boalmari area from Mareya Bazar in Boda upazila aboard a battery-run auto-van on Friday afternoon. When the vehicle reached the Baruni Kalibari area on the Mareya-Panchagarh road, a truck hit the auto-van, causing her to fall onto the road. She was crushed under the wheels of the truck and died on the spot.

Upon receiving the information, fire service personnel and police arrived at the scene to recover the body. Although police seized the truck, the driver managed to flee the scene.

Meanwhile, on the same afternoon, Jahangir Alam suffered a severe electric shock while working as a carpenter at a house in the Charmile Bodapara area of Panchagarh Sadar upazila. Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Medical Officer of Panchagarh Sadar Hospital, Dr. Sutapa Banik, stated that Jahangir Alam was brought to the hospital around 12:45 PM, but had already passed away prior to his arrival.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station, Ashish Kumar Sheel, confirmed that an inquest report was prepared for Jahangir Alam's body before handing it over to his family following necessary legal formalities. An Unnatural Death (UD) case has been filed in connection with the incident.
