Seized 8,000 pieces of illegal Tapentadol tablets recovered by the Department of Narcotics Control alongside the arrested suspect in Dinajpur.

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Dinajpur has arrested a woman named Bilkis Begum (40) along with 8,000 pieces of the banned drug Tapentadol during a drive in the town.

The operation was conducted on Tuesday (October 20) at noon on Pourashava Road, approximately 100 yards east of the T&T Gate in the heart of the town.

Inspector Md. Abdur Rahman of the DNC Dinajpur District Office led the drive. The arrested woman, Bilkis Begum, is the daughter of Abdul Malek, hailing from Purba Maheshpur village in No. 5 Biral Union under Biral Upazila of Dinajpur.

According to DNC sources, a team took position on the road in front of the municipality building based on secret information. When the woman passed by carrying a bag, officers intercepted her and conducted a search. A total of 8,000 pieces of Tapentadol tablets were recovered from inside her bag.

The Department of Narcotics Control stated that the estimated market value of the seized tablets is around BDT 12 lakh. Officials further revealed that Bilkis Begum had previously served a six-month sentence imposed by a mobile court in another drug-related case.

A regular case has been filed in connection with the incident at Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
