Police have recovered the bodies of a housewife and her two young children in Chirirbandar, Dinajpur. Following the incident, police have detained the deceased's husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. On Monday afternoon, the bodies were sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Earlier, on Sunday evening, the incident took place at Balupara village in Mostafapur, located east of the Jugirdanga field in the upazila. The victim's father, Khairul Islam, filed a murder case with Chirirbandar Police Station as the plaintiff, naming three people as accused.
The deceased were identified as Sworna Akter (24), wife of Shakil Islam (26) of the Balupara area, their four-year-old son Safayet, and nine-month-old daughter Roifa Moni. The victim's father-in-law, Mahtab Uddin, said that after returning home from work in the evening, he heard no sound from his daughter-in-law or grandchildren. After calling out repeatedly without a response, he broke open the bamboo-fenced door and brought down Sworna's body. Neighbors then arrived at the scene. The deceased's mother, Anju Ara, said her son-in-law called over the phone and claimed Sworna killed her children and committed suicide. Local Union Parishad Member Nur Amin Shah stated that a message was written on the wall of their room reading: "The story ends today. I am an unfortunate mother. Mom and Dad, sorry. I love you." District Superintendent of Police Md. Zedaun Al Musa said various police units are working to unearth the actual mystery behind the incident. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Anwar Hossain stated that evidence has been collected and inquest reports prepared. The victim's husband, father-in-law Mahtab Uddin, and mother-in-law Rahmat Ala Tara Bibi have been taken into custody for questioning, adding that an autopsy will help unravel the truth. In this regard, Chirirbandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudun-Nabi said the case was officially registered after the victim's father submitted a complaint, and investigations are ongoing.
