Popular Bangladeshi film actress Pori Moni has expressed intense outrage after a distorted, AI-generated deepfake video featuring her was published on the official Instagram page of a prominent television channel (Maasranga TV). Although the network claimed its social media account was hacked and issued a public apology, the 'Shoppnojal' actress asserted that a simple "sorry" is not enough to absolve them of responsibility for spreading defamatory content nationwide.
In a late-night Facebook Live session, Pori Moni sharply criticized both the television authority and toxic online users. Questioning the channel's cyber security handling, she asked how a major media house allowed the offensive AI content to remain accessible for nearly 11 hours without taking immediate administrative or legal control. She remarked that claiming a page was "hacked" cannot serve as a blanket excuse for failing to protect public figures from cyber slander.
Addressing the online harassment, Pori Moni lambasted netizens who engage in spreading fake video links across social media comment sections. She noted that sensible individuals recognized the AI fabrication and ignored it, while malicious users weaponized it for viral sensationalism. Although she later deleted the Facebook Live broadcast and posted a lighthearted morning update ("Oops sorry, deleted it. Good morning"), her strong stance has drawn wide attention to the rising threat of AI deepfakes targeting female celebrities. On the work front, Pori Moni recently starred in director Gias Uddin Selim's upcoming web movie 'Separation' alongside Imtiaz Barshon.
