North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has inaugurated a newly built Defense Revolution Museum housing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of targeting the United States mainland, state news agency KCNA reported on Tuesday (October 13, 2026).
Accompanied by his wife Ri Sol Ju and daughter Kim Ju Ae during Sunday's ribbon-cutting ceremony, Kim toured expansive underground exhibition halls featuring the newly showcased Hwasong-20 ICBM, hypersonic glide vehicles, tactical drones, and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
According to military analysts at the Korea Defense and Security Forum, a world strike-range map positioned in front of the Hwasong-20 launcher depicted a trajectory envelope extending beyond the US mainland into South America, Australia, and the Middle East, along with multiple-independently targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV) warhead designs.
The military exposition was unveiled just a day after US President Donald Trump signaled that he might hold direct talks with Kim Jong Un during his upcoming visit to Asia for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China in mid-November. Foreign policy experts from the Institute for Far Eastern Studies noted that Pyongyang is institutionalizing its military achievements into permanent national museums to cement its status as a permanent nuclear weapons state while maximizing bargaining leverage ahead of potential diplomatic engagements with Washington.
