Saudi-Led Coalition Orders Immediate Evacuation in Sanaa Ahead of Imminent Airstrikes as Houthis Threaten Counterstrikes on Riyadh
The city of Sanaa, where civilian evacuations have been ordered around key petroleum facilities ahead of imminent coalition airstrikes.

The Saudi-led military coalition announced on Tuesday (October 13, 2026) that it is preparing to execute a high-impact military operation against Iran-backed Houthi rebel infrastructure in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, ordering all civilians to immediately evacuate target areas.

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Malki published detailed map coordinates on social platform X, requesting civilians and workers to immediately vacate the Yemen Petroleum Company / Al-Sabaha Central Station in Sanaa for their safety. Al-Malki stated that joint coalition forces are conducting a "special operation" aimed at disabling Houthi military-logistic hubs and energy assets in the capital, providing advance notice to minimize civilian harm.

In response, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea warned that any airstrikes launched against Sanaa will trigger an immediate, "severe and painful" retaliatory bombardment targeting the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The rapid escalation follows Saturday's deadly ballistic missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which left 12 dead—including two Bangladeshi nationals—and over 300 injured, prompting Saudi authorities to vow a decisive response.
