Suspected Mobile Thief Left Dangling Outside Moving Train in Bihar's Bhagalpur
The railway sector in Bhagalpur, Bihar, scene of the viral mobile snatching attempt and passenger confrontation.

A dramatic video showing a suspected mobile phone thief dangling precariously outside the window of a moving train has gone viral on social media, following an incident at Shivnarayanpur Railway Station in Bihar's Bhagalpur district.

According to a report by Indian news outlet NDTV on Wednesday (October 14, 2026), the suspect attempted to snatch a smartphone through an open window from a passenger as the train began pulling out of the station. Alert passengers inside the compartment immediately grabbed both of the thief's hands through the window bars. As the train gathered speed, passengers refused to let go, forcing the suspect to hang helplessly on the exterior of the speeding train coach.

Footage filmed by onlookers at the station shows the man struggling to maintain his footing against the moving train while spectators watched in disbelief. After hanging on for a considerable distance, the suspect eventually lost his grip and fell onto a nearby platform, where local railway security personnel promptly took him into custody. The viral clip has sparked an intense online debate, with some netizens calling the incident justified vigilantism and others pointing out the severe hazards of such vigilant actions.
