DNCC Takes Strict Stance to Prevent Re-Occupation of Footpaths: Administrator
DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan participates in the weekly vector control and cleanliness campaign at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has implemented a strict monitoring enforcement protocol to permanently prevent illegal hawker re-occupation on reclaimed footpaths, confirmed DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan on Saturday (October 3, 2026).

Speaking during a weekly anti-dengue mosquito larviciding and environmental cleanliness drive conducted in front of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at Manik Mia Avenue, Administrator Khan highlighted that joint monitoring units—comprising local citizens, DNCC officials, and Traffic Police—have been activated. He cited the recent successful eviction drive in front of Hope Market in Area 10 as an ongoing operational model. Coinciding with the government's 90-day special vector control campaign, DNCC magistrate teams and health officers continue inspecting residential premises, commercial spaces, and government facilities to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites. The Administrator noted that dengue infection numbers in DNCC zones remain manageable due to sustained weekly drives, reiterating the municipal commitment to delivering pedestrian-friendly walkways and a clean, dengue-free capital.
