
Eight more individuals have succumbed to measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, taking the national death toll from confirmed measles and suspected cases to 1,122 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Presenting the daily health bulletin on Saturday (October 3, 2026), DGHS officials reported that all eight recent fatalities occurred in Dhaka. Over the same 24-hour window ending at 8:00 AM, 1,153 new patients exhibiting measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide. Division-wise admission figures show 444 patients in Dhaka, 224 in Chattogram, 158 in Sylhet, 138 in Barishal, 73 in Khulna, 49 in Mymensingh, 39 in Rangpur, and 24 in Rajshahi. DGHS statistical records reveal that since March 15, 2026, a total of 195,197 suspected measles cases have been recorded across the country, with 21,666 cases laboratory-confirmed. Out of 173,024 hospitalized patients treated during this outbreak period, 167,756 have been discharged following recovery.
