Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the July Memorial at Osmani Udyan in Dhaka on Monday (October 19, 2026) to honor the martyrs of the 2024 July Mass Uprising. The Prime Minister opened the memorial alongside family members of four prominent martyrs: Martyred Abu Sayed’s father Md. Mokbul Hossain, Martyred Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho’s father Mostafizur Rahman, Martyred Shahriar Khan Anas’s mother Sanjida Khan Dipti, and Martyred Wasim Akram’s father Mohammad Shafiul Alam.

Built on nearly one acre of land, the 90-foot-high memorial features laser-cut names of 834 martyrs and 20 symbolic grave markers, complemented by inner and outer relief sculptures depicting Bangladesh’s historic struggles from 1952 to 2024. Alongside the memorial, the Prime Minister inaugurated the newly renovated 23-acre Osmani Udyan, transformed into a modern recreational park featuring green islands, 3.1 kilometers of walking paths, water bodies, a gymnasium, and sustainable features like a rainwater harvesting system. Ministers including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and LGRD Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, along with city corporation administrators, were present at the event.
