President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has stressed the urgent need to shield the nation's youth and student community from the destructive grip of narcotics, calling for a strict zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse across all universities and educational institutions.

During a courtesy meeting with a delegation from Uttara University led by Founder and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Yasmeen Ara Lekha at Bangabhaban on Wednesday morning (October 14, 2026), the President emphasized that rigorous legal measures must be enforced to keep campuses and surrounding areas completely drug-free.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on the university's ongoing academic programs, research initiatives, and infrastructural development, while also outlining certain institutional challenges. President Fakhrul assured the delegation of his support and formally accepted an invitation to attend the upcoming Uttara University Convocation as Chancellor. The meeting was attended by the President's Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary, alongside university advisors, assistant professors, and members of the Board of Trustees.
