In a historic first for a head of government in Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit three divisions outside the capital on Tuesday (October 20, 2026)—Maha Navami—to inspect Durga Puja mandaps and exchange greetings with the Hindu community during their largest religious festival. According to Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atikur Rahman Rumon, the Prime Minister will depart from Dhaka's Tejgaon Airport by military aircraft at 9:00 AM.
His itinerary includes flying to Saidpur Airport to visit a major temple in Rangpur, followed by a visit to the Rajshahi Dharmasabha Temple at 1:30 PM, where he will also address a public rally at the historic Madrasa ground at 3:00 PM. Afterward, he will fly to Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport to visit the puja mandap at JM Sen Hall in Rahmatganj before staying overnight at the Chattogram Circuit House and returning to Dhaka at night. This follows his previous visits to puja mandaps in Dhaka's Mohakhali and Banani areas accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman.
