The general meeting of the Saidpur Press Club in Nilphamari was held, during which 13 journalists were inducted as new members. The meeting took place in the Press Club's conference room on Friday (October 9) from 9:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Hafez Maulana Abdul Muntakim, Member of Parliament for the Nilphamari-4 (Saidpur-Kishoreganj) constituency, attended the event as the chief guest. The meeting was chaired by Alhaj Principal Abdul Gafur Sarkar, President of Saidpur Political District BNP.
Special guests in attendance included Saidpur Political District BNP General Secretary Shahin Akhtar Shahin, Joint General Secretary Ershad Hossain Pappu, former MP and BNP leader Shawkat Chowdhury, Saidpur Upazila Jamaat Amir Shafiqul Islam, Secretary Alhaj Mazharul Islam, City Jamaat Amir Sharafuddin Khan, and Secretary Maulana Wajed Ali.
The program was jointly moderated by Press Club Convenor and Weekly Jono Somosya Editor Shawkat Hayat Shah alongside Member Secretary and Weekly Manob Somosya Editor Nazrul Islam.
Convenor Shawkat Hayat Shah delivered the welcome speech and presented a condolence motion for 10 deceased members of the Press Club, followed by a one-minute silence. Later, Chief Guest MP Hafez Maulana Abdul Muntakim led a prayer seeking eternal peace for their departed souls.
Welcome speeches were delivered by senior journalist, former president, and Dainik Alapon Editor Aminul Haq; former vice-president and Dainik Khoborpatra representative Anwar Pramanik; Dainik Naya Diganta and Sangram representative Jakir Hossain; Dainik Amar Desh representative Sahabaz Uddin Sabuj; and Dainik Janata representative Shahjahan Ali Monon.
Among the 13 applicants granted new membership were Weekly Saaf Jawab Editor and Publisher Alhaj Shawkat Chowdhury; Bangladesh Betar representative Sabbir Ahmed Saber; Dainik Janata representative Shahjahan Ali Monon; Dainik Naya Diganta representative Jakir Hossain; Dainik Jugantor representative Johurul Islam Khokon; Dainik Amar Desh representative Sahabaz Uddin Sabuj; online news portal APN News Editor Jahangir Alam Sarkar; Dainik Agamir Shomoy representative Mominur Azad; Dainik Dhaka Protidin representative Shahidul Sarkar Dulal; Dainik Manobadhikar Protidin representative Md. Firoz; Dainik Nababani representative Khalekul Islam; QTV representative Abdullah Mukit Dulal; and Daily Bangla Post representative Tausif Reza.
Other members, invited guests, and convenor committee representatives were also present at the gathering.
