The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under the Chattogram Education Board will resume on July 27, following the original examination routine, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said today.
The board had earlier suspended all remaining examinations indefinitely because of severe flooding across several districts under its jurisdiction.

"The examinations will resume on July 27 according to the routine. After the scheduled examinations end, we will announce the dates for the postponed papers," he said while speaking to reporters.

Milon also said registration would begin for candidates who were unable to sit the examinations held on July 13 because of flooding and related disruptions.

He said a fresh examination date for those candidates would be fixed after assessing the number of registrations.

Chattogram Education Board had initially postponed examinations scheduled for July 8, 11, 13, 15 and 16 because of flooding.

On July 16, 2026, the board announced an indefinite suspension of all remaining HSC examinations, citing continued flooding, damaged roads, transport disruptions, and concerns over candidates' safety and wellbeing.

The issue of candidates missing examinations first emerged on July 13, 2026, when many students under different education boards were unable to reach their examination centres because of heavy rain and waterlogging.

The incident triggered protests by students across the country, with examinees demanding an opportunity to sit fresh examinations.

On July 15, 2026, Milon told parliament that candidates who had missed examinations because of unavoidable circumstances, including adverse weather, would be given another opportunity to take the tests.

According to the existing HSC routine, written examinations are scheduled to continue until August 8, while practical examinations are expected to conclude by mid-August.
